Burns: Depends on the depth and extent of the burn. Most burns will be sore in the sun as the skin is sensitive and best not to tan full stop due to risks. https://www.fda.gov/radiation-emittingproducts/radiationemittingproductsandprocedures/tanning/ucm116432.htm Here is some general information on burns and their recovery. Tanning?!: The recovery time for skin depends on how deep the burn was to begin with. If you developed blisters or lost a layer of skin it will take longer. I usually recommend being very careful (SPF 50 +/- covering up) for the whole next summer season. More importantly, what do you mean by tanning?! Intentionally exposing yourself to UV to get a tan is like wishing for wrinkles and skin cancer. Seriously.

Wait and yes for sun: You don't mention how large this burn is, nor how deep. Is the burn just red skin or is there a blister or dark leathery tissue in the burn? Exposure to the sun or UV rays may slow healing or create a more visible scar, so would wait until maybe a week after it is healed, and use sunscreen in the area.
