One of the most: common complications of breast feeding is a blocked milk duct. When the flow of milk is blocked, it can cause pain. Massaging the area, emptying that breast first and changing the baby's position can help ease the discomfort. If a portion of the breast becomes hot, red and tender, it could indicate a breast infection (mastitis). In that case, a doctor should be consulted.
