Interesting dilemma: You didn't say who got tested or what for. Some would test for the big 3. syphilis,gonorrhea or chlamydia, but these are only a few of the dozen or so things that can pass sexually. HIV, herpes, HPV, various forms of hepatitis, etc are all possibles. If you are concerned you should meet with your primary doc and share your concerns.

Spreading diseases: Spreading diseases happens easily when a person has more than one sexual partner. Generally, all the partners in the group (meaning 2 people if truly monogamous) have to be tested and treated at the same time. If one has a positive test for an infection, it is usually presumed that the other person has the same infection even if the other person has a negative test.
