Yes: Episcleritis caused by a collagen vascular disease such as lupus can cause recurrent episodes. These can return from time to time for your entire lifetime.

It could : Episcleritis or scleritis is due to inflammation. Scleritis mostly depends on the systemic inflammation and it's inflammation secondary to an autoimmune disease. It can reoccur depends on the inflammation level in the system. If the person's inflammation well treated then there is less likely for recurrence. Episclerits less likely related to the systemic inflammation but its mostly local..
