Wide variation: Levels of HCG have a wide variation in normal pregnancies. It would be prudent to repeat the level in a week to see if it is rising as expected. BetaHCG may be OK: The ranges of normal levels of betaHCG are quite variable and one value of 654 may not be considered a reliable means to date your pregnancy. Serial measurements of betaHCG x2 or 3, normally doubling levels and reassuring sonographic findings once the betaHCG have passed 1500 to 2000 will give you a much more accurate sense of the viability, location and of the gestational age of your pregnancy.
