New lumps need Docs: Any new lump or mass that does not go away on its own should be checked out by a doc. Most of the time these are nothing serious but the only way to be sure is to have a doc take a look. Certainly, if the mass is growing in size, becoming painful, etc., it needs to be evaluated sooner. But a mass could be a lymph node that is enlarged because of serious disease in another part of the body.
