Lots of stuff: Anyone with a knee injury, new or old, will know how easy it is to feel it flair up with extreme cardio. Running in particular is very tough on the knees - so what exercises can you do to get the heart rate up, without hurting already bad knees? http://www.womenshealthmag.co.uk/fitness/sports-injuries/3195/5-best-cardio-exercises-workout-bad-knee-injury/

Cardio: If you are otherwise healthy consider doing upper body exercise such as light hand weights or even canned vegetables in each hand. You just want to keep the blood flowing. Deep breathing at the same time can increase benefits. Stretching good too. Peace and good health.

Try this: While running or upright bicycle exercising puts a lot of strain on your knees, you can do a good cardio workout on a reclining bicycle without stressing the knee too much.
