A 47-year-old female asked:

i'm 47 years old and i been feeling nauseous and have lost some weight and can't sleep at night?

This symptoms are: concerning. Of course everybody can feel nauseous for a day or two, often as a result of a fleeting viral infection. But if you continue to feel nauseated after several days and also have unexplained weight loss, an evaluation is due. Certainly, you might have lost weight simply because the nausea prevented you from eating, but other more serious causes need to be excluded. Good wishes:)

Genetics: Every woman is different so every pattern of weight gain (and every pregnancy) will be different. As a general rule of thumb, a normal weight woman should gain between 25-35 pounds while pregnant. This often comes as a spurt in the middle of the pregnancy. Overweight women should gain less and underweight women more. Good nutrition and exercise are recommended for all pregnant women.

Yes!: I agree with medical student emily lu: "losing weight can lower your blood pressure and can bring your blood glucose levels under control - thus bringing your type 2 diabetes and hypertension under control!" fatty acids from fat tissue contribute to the "metabolic syndrome, " in which blood pressure, triglycerides, and blood glucose rise. Loss of weight helps bring these under control.

Can a women get breast cancer by wearing a bra while sleeping?

No: There is no evidence to suggest that wearing a bra at anytime could lead to cancer. The reason for the development of cancer is complex and is related to changes in the cell that result in abnormal cells not dying as they should and instead piling up.

there have been no studies to suggest any correlation with breast cancer and bra type; or sleep habit.

Hand numbness: There is a good chance that what you are describing is carpal tunnel syndrome. If this continues wear a wrist splint at night. If this does not solve the numbness then you need to discuss this with your doctor.
