Doctor can evaluate: Nose and throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, influenza, allergies, irritants, etc... It can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If symptoms lasted only 1 or 2 days, it was more likely allergies or irritation. Doctors have rapid tests for strep and influenza, so a primary care doctor can diagnose strep and start antibiotics within the first few days of strep symptoms.
