Can't tell by feel: A liposarcoma is a malignant "fatty tumor" while a lipoma is a benign "fatty tumor". Many times they will be similar on appearance and feel. The only true way to make the correct diagnosis is by biopsy or by surgical removal and looking under the microscope at the cells. Liposarcoma is exceedingly rare. If you're concerned, you should see a surgeon.
