Normally after: the first week the chance of dry socket is minimal. Swelling is usually at the peak between days 3 and 5. Start out with weights that do not require excessive bending over.

Dry socket: Dry socket can occur up to a week after your extraction and depends on the type of extraction and the care you have taken since the extraction. You should be able to resume moderate activity but the best answer will come from the extracting dentist because they know your mouth and the nature of the extraction.

Should Be Ok: In my practice, I advise my patients that dry sockets usually occur within 2-5 days following the removal of teeth, and is more common in the lower jaw. If at 5 days you have not had any problems, you should be ok to begin weight lifting again. I would suggest taking it easy for the first couple of sessions.

No Problem: Remember to start light, add reps and recondition before going for the big lifts.
