Viral infection?: Most respiratory infections, including "lower" ones (bronchitis, pneumonia), are due to viruses; or if a bacterial infection, a virus often started the problem. Influenza, for example. No virus responds to antibiotics. And even with bacterial infections, it can take several days for improvement to begin. But to be safe, contact the doctor treating you.
