One swab: You need a pelvic exam and one swab test to examine your secretions for bacterial vaginosis. Sometimes the normal hydrogen peroxide secreting Lactobacillus bacteria in the vagina get replaced by anaerobic bacteria such as Gardnerella, Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, etc. Studies show women who do have BV have a higher risk for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
