Irritation: Can be caused by infection ( bacterial vs fungal ),or inflammation.Treatment depends on diagnosis. Continue to do some navel gazing without any manipulation of area. If persists or worsens, seek medical attention. You can also send in a picture. Any navel piercings involved? If so, remove foreign body.
