A member asked:

My ob gave me neo penotran for 5 days she knows that im breastfeeding. is it safe to take while breastfeeding? what are the risk to my baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Safe: Neo penotran contains two medications: metronidazole and miconazole. Metronidazole and fluconazole (a medication similar to miconazole) can both be given orally to infants, so the amount that would be absorbed vaginally and be excreted in breast milk would be negligible and safe for breast feeding.
