What could cause the ear crackling when i move my jaw slightly? it is not associated with any noticeable amount of pain.

Normal: All of the joints in the body produce a small amount of gas bubbles. This is a common thing noticed as a cracking or popping in the joint. You hear it in you ear because the joint of the jaw is close to it and the sound conducts through the bone to the ear. So long as you have no pain there is nothing to worry about.

Could be: Fluid in ear or an early sign of TMJ dysfunction. Either way if you have no pain you're OK
