Hematoma: Is this the result of trauma causing a blood collection under the skin(hematoma)? If so and the trauma occurred within 24 hours,I recommend applying ice for at least 24 hours. If the trauma is over 48 hours old, heat applications would help break down the hematoma. However it would be more advisable to have a physician examine you for this tender lesion.
