Nerve: This suggests impingement of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve where it enters the leg near the groin. This is more of a nuisance and usually doesn't cause severe pain. Another possibility is a bulging intervertebral disc in the spine pressing on a nerve root exiting the spine. This is more apt to cause more pain. A neurologist or neurosurgeon are best qualified to evaluate and advise you. ?MRI
