Side Effect: Tramadol has properties similar to anti-depressants that work as serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI). It is not an anti-depressant. However, SSRI medications are known to cause insomnia. And it appears that this may be the issue you are having from this medication because of its SSRI property. Hope that helps!
