Nipple size: If the baby is bottle feeding and the bottle nipple is too long, the baby will begin to reverse swallow to avoid choking. See a pedodontist (child dentist) for an evaluation and consider one of the palate shaped bottle attachments like nuk.

Several things: Some infants have immature nervous systems and swallowing can result in aspiration of food either near or into the airway.Speech therapists with various consistencies of formula, nipples, and bottes can help to get beyond these problems. If child coughs with eating or has blue spells or apnea with swallowing the swallowing mechanism should be checked.Sometimes fluoroscopy is used to see swallow.
