A member asked:

What does a platelet level of 494 mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your count is higher than normal. A common cause of high platelet count is iron deficiency. Your doctor who ordered the test should have more information and should be able provide an opinion if further investigation is warranted.
