A member asked:

Is there any risk in taking my 21 day contraceptive pill for an extra week? is there anything i should know?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends, probably: The 21 day pill is designed so that you are taking NO medication the last 7 days of your menstrual cycle. If you continue to take medication, you will not menstruate by Day 28, which may not be beneficial and potentially troublesome. Women on Depo-Provera can go longer without menstruating, but you should discuss with your OB before deviating from your routine, with guidance
