A member asked:

I've high monocyte counts, sporadic high general wbc counts and all other physical symptoms listed online. im 23. could i have acute myeloid leukemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This isn't leukemia: Acute myeloid leukemia is not subtle in its presentation. And the cells are distinctively abnormal, not healthy-looking monocytes. Reference ranges are set by labs so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. I wasn't able to see your symptom list -- it's your physician's task to make the call. TB's a concern with high monocytes and ill-defined symptoms, but leukemia isn't.
