Knee pain: Baker's cyst is usually an indication something else is going on inside the knee--usually arthritis, meniscal tear, or synovitis. Fluid buildup should be checked by your primary doc with referral to Orthopedic surgeon.

Aspiration: Recommend the knee be aspirated to reduce swelling and to allow synovial fluid to be sent for culture and analysis before steroid injection. Bakers cyst swelling is worrisome as can cause venous compression or congestion putting you at risk for DVT. X ray indicated to rule out any other pathology ie. arthritis or fracture.
