A member asked:

Hey there i have a question, what does the hiv vaccine do like does it prevent the disease or something like what's the purpose?

No current vaccine: There is no current vaccine for HIV. Vaccines work to prevent a disease by stimulating an immune response to components of a disease causing virus or bacteria. Vaccination then uses the body's response to prevent infection.

No HIV vaccine: You have misunderstood something you read or heard. There is no vaccine against HIV. Some have been studied in research, but so far none have worked very well and none are available for use by the public.
