Mucus: This is mucus secreted by the rectal lining and is often seen with irritable bowel syndrome and colitis. If you have no anorectal discomfort, blood in stools or troublesome diarrhea, this may not be a serious disorder. A proctologist or gastroenterologist can advise you best, however.
