Lymph nodes: There may be inflamed lymph nodes in your armpit. Maybe you have an underlying infection brewing somewhere?. You will need a proper examination by a doctor to determine the cause.

Lymphadenitis: This sounds like inflamed glands in your armpits which is called lymphadenitis. The most common reason in a woman is an infection which gets in through broken skin due to shaving the armpits. It may settle by itself or need a course of antibiotics. Lumps in this region that stay for longer than a couple of weeks need to be checked for more serious causes like breast cancer.

Depends on the exam: There are multiple problems with different treatments that could cause this problem. You need to see a doctor to have the area examined.
