Ideally need more...: 4 month olds don't have a lot of true bones, lots of cartiledge, so if noises at/near joints, can be from tendon movement or fluid--particularly likely if s/he not uncomfortable/upset when "cracking" occurs. At that young, everything is potentially concerning, so should call pediatrician for advice or take in for check over.
