A member asked:

If you get muscle aches from genital herpes, do they usually occur before a breakout? would they be all over or just in legs?

Get tested: Based on the two questions you have on this topic, it appears that you are concerned about having acquired genital herpes. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful answer without examining you and doing some tests. So it would be prudent to see your doctor and get for STDs, not just herpes. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.

Genital herpes: Prodromal aching in muscles in viral infections are common, may occur in the legs but are usually generalized and are often accompanied by lethargy and malaise. Not everyone with genital herpes has that before a breakout, however. Lipitor may also cause muscle aches.

Muscle aches /herpes: This could be due to herpes viremia and may be all over. There is recorded cases of meningitis associated with herpes recurrence but surprisingly the patients did not have skin lesions. But it does point to the fact that disseminated viremia can occur post initial infection f/u/ w /doc , infectious disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2095052/
