A member asked:

I know hpv is a risk factor for cancers such as cervical, anal, oral etc. but can cancer of rectum- not anal- also be caused by hpv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Odd question: The anus and rectum are essentially the same structure. You may look at the anus as a back door and inside something different, but we consider the terms interchangable. Yes, the cancer related strains of HPV can be involved in rectal cancer.
