Unlikely: Any of the penicillin derived drugs are considered poor treatments for this contageous disease. Since it can cause permanent sterility and pelvic inflammatory disease in females it is not something to use a marginal or poor drug. Azithromycin is a first line treatment choice.See www.cdc.gov/std/treatment.
