Persistent cough: Persistent cough after taking antibiotic indicates either bacteria that do not respond to the antibiotic or overgrowth of an organisms and fungal infection. A complete examination throat culture, sputum culture, Complete blood test and chest xRay would help

Mgt: There are several possible causes for your symptoms. The antibiotic that you took is a broad spectrum antibiotic which should cover most bacterial causes. If you have a fever despite treatment and a productive cough, you may need a chest radiograph. I would suggest seeing your PCP to discuss a throat swab and further evaluation. Did you receive a flu vaccine this year?
