Visceral pain: Somatic pain is in the muscles, bones etc. Visceral pain is in internal organs. The two have different mechanisms and need different approached for treatment. Painkiller.: Oxycodone is a non-specific painkiller, and an addictive one at that. It's always better to treat the mechanism behind the pain rather than just treat the sensation of pain nonspecifically.

See answer: It's important when having abdominal pain, including stomach pain, to diagnose and treat the cause of the pain. Pain may be the only sign that something is seriously wrong that needs attention; to only treat the pain may cover up the problem and delay treatment while the medical problem continues to get worse.
