A member asked:

Is it possible to repair a damaged stomach lining from excess use of iron supplements?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Michael Carr answered

Specializes in Family Medicine

Yes: If you remove the offending agent (iron) the stomach lining should heal on its own. You can try Pepcid or Prevacid to help the healing process.

Usually, stomach lining is protected by mucus . But can certain acidic foods or sitting for long cause excess acid in such a way that it damages the lining in spite of mucus and cause burning? I am talking of stomach burn and not heartburn/reflux.
