No Rabies!: They want to make sure you do not have rabies. It is not the vaccine they are worried about it is the possible exposure to rabies which can take a long time to manifest. http://www.immunize.org/vis/rabies.pdf

Do not be: concerned about transmitting anything related to the rabies vaccine you received. Rabies is a non-live vaccine and poses no risk to the recipients of blood. Most likely it is advised not to donate blood because many people receiving the rabies vaccine have been bitten by a suspicious animal. Blood donation is deferred in this situation, being VERY cautious.
