Define "good" ?: Condoms provide some protection from a variety of STD's but not all. If you mean low risk of HIV, you are likely good, but much would depend on number of exposures and type of sexual contact involved.Other issues like HPV and chlamydia might bypass a condom among others.

Probably OK, but...: The HIV tests are 100% reliable, so he wasn't infected with HIV as of 2014. However, condoms sometimes fail. You both should be tested for HIV and other common STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis). Most likely they will be negative, but better safe than sorry!
