Bought a new comforter yesterday. put it on bed when i got home. was i supposed to wash first? i never have in the past. did i mess up?

Comforter: Although I am unaware of any specific problems it is usually a good idea to wash the item before using. Sometimes chemicals from factory can be on the item. However, I am unaware of any information source that documents serious problems from not washing the item. Although some people do get minor irritation from the exposure.
