Possibly: Irregular spotting is relatively common. Its causes can range from forgetting birth control pills to cervical infections, and many others. If this is an isolated occurrence I wouldn't be too concerned, but if this is a regular pattern you need to have it checked

Spotting: Causes: I agree with the answer you already received. If this is unusual for you, it may point to some pathology such as a cervical polyp. Is there any chance you might have been impregnated two weeks before? The "period" you reported in early October could have been implantation bleeding followed by loss of the fetus. A pregnancy test would be negative now. If it doesn't recur, OK, otherwise evaluate.
