TINNITUS: The hissing sound (called "tinnitus" can be due to a number of inner ear problems...the most common of which is AGING which is always accompanied by high frequency hearing loss..an early manifestation of which is tinnitus....You should be evaluated by a Licensed AUDIOLOGIST to furrher clarify....don't postpone..you may be missing a lot of nice sounds Hope this is helpful Dr Z
