Can ssri cause lasting damage in the brain and induce brain fog? i once took them and had very severe withdrawal symptoms.

No: Consider also the reason for being placed on the medication. Perhaps it was for anxiety. Certainly while the medication is in your system there can be cognitive effects, often decreased range of emotions in a dose-dependent way. Withdrawal happens too w/ SSRI's esp. Paxil and Celexa/Lexapro. Once off for several weeks there are no lasting effects.
