Not likely: Combination oral contraceptives can cause cyclic fluid retention which will result in fluctuations in a womens weight - usually in the range of 3 to 5 pounds. However, large studies have shown that birth control pills do not cause long term or progressive weight gain. It is normal to gain weight as a women ages, those on birth control pills tend to blame the pills for the weight gain.
