See below: See your dentist for a definitive diagnosis, variables include cheek biting, lichen planus or something else that needs a clinical diagnosis. If the dentist feels it is warranted, you will be referred to your MD. Start with the simplest.

Examination: As you have seen from the other answers previously posted, the wisest thing to do is to start with a clinical examination by your Dentist. That will provide a lot of information, as will a thorough medical history and perhaps tissue swabs for lab analysis. The best advice we can all give you is please schedule an examination.
