Not credible: Tears have a certain composition with little variation that does not include molecules with an odor. I am certain the odor comes from someplace else - sinuses, skin, throat. You know that tear excess flows into the nose normally. Are their open sores on your face or around your eyes. You might check with your ENT doctor about this.
