Brown discharge: On non-oral contraceptive coverage, at age 35 the level of estrogen is elevated , and the decrease just prior to the onset of menses will cause slight bleeding, which colors the discharge and makes it appear "brown" . The "creamy consistency" may be due to a yeast overgrowth, which is also more common in the second half of the menstrual cycle.
