A member asked:

Why would a doctor or lab retest or reevaluate a blood sample? my results were "updated," after which results came more in line with standard ranges.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lab error: Especially, a sample may be damaged in transit. The damage may be discovered after results are sent out, and corrected. This is why physicians -- mostly us pathologists -- supervise the lab closely.
