A member asked:

Pain when i strain for a number 2, i already have coccydinia (not sure how to spell it) could this pain be related to this?

Altho we can't say: for sure, it's certainly possible. The tailbone (coccyx) runs just behind and almost parallel to the rectum. If your coccyx is inflamed or irritated, the additional pressure placed on it during a B.M. could be painful. There are other causes of rectal pain, so, if the problem's severe or persistent, it's best that you see a doctor about it. Dr. Anne
