Swimmer's ear: When the ear wick absorbs the antibiotic solution, it expands to fill the outer ear canal so that the medicine reaches the infected areas. It is compressing the painful, swollen sides of the ear canal. If the pain continues to increase even with a change in ear wick, seek help immediately in case of resistant, worsened infection, especially if diabetic.
