Internal: derangement of the knee joint including cartilage teats of the ACL, PCL, lateral ligament or infrapatellar tendinitis. Trauma can also cause effusion or hemarthrosis ( blood in the knee joint ). No matter what you must be examined and x-rayed, probably will need an MRI or a diagnostic aspiration of the joint fluid. Call for an orthopedic consultation asap.
