A member asked:

After taking oral antibiotics for a week, there's now brown discharge from the sebaceous cyst. what does that mean? is an immediate surgery needed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Truth about cysts: A sebaceous or tricholemmal cyst may sometimes become inflamed. Then it becomes swollen, red, tender. Drs who know nothing about these cysts will prescribe antibiotic therapy. These are useless. The cysts which become inflamed will feel better and begin to heal after they drain. The drainage may be spontaneous or result from surgery. The color of the drainage varies and often includes blood.
