Novocaine: ..is the common brand name of procaine which is rarely used in dentistry anymore because of allergy to PABA, a direct metabolite of procaine. An allergy means a symptomatic response to an allergan (procaine) that can range from a mild inflammatory response to lethal anaphylaxis.
